We love to watch her as the leading lady of a hit TV drama Scandal, but this actress wants us to know that she has suffered from depression and that she doesn’t want to hide it. Kerry found herself in a serious problem during her college years. She started feeling depressed which led to a harmful relationship with food and exercise. Washington found comfort in food and would eat uncontrollably. In order to stop the feeling of guilt, she would spend hours at the gym and exhaust herself exercising.
Her dance instructor luckily realized this, and helped Kerry realize she needed therapy. Even after that, the actress would sink into depression from time to time, but it was after the tsunami she narrowly escaped in 2004 that she realized she was lucky to be alive. And she started expressing the importance of taking about mental issues.
