12 Helpful Tips For Increased Productivity in Routine Life

Time is something we all need more off. Having 24 hours in a day simply isn’t enough or everything we need and want to do. There’s work, then family, then friends, then entertainment, then some bit of time for ourselves. So much to do, so little time. But there are ways wherein you can maximize those 24 hours each day so you can achieve more.

  1. Delegate Other Tasks. This can be done both at home and at work. Delegating tasks doesn’t mean you’re passing the work off to others. It just means that you are giving work out to people who would be more equipped to do them. AT home, delegate some chores to other family members. At work, find colleagues who are better at some areas and give them those types of tasks.
  2. Know What Meetings You Need To Attend. There are always so many meetings that need you your attention. But, do you really need to be there? Maybe you can just get a report from someone who attended. Or, you can join them through a teleconference.
  3. Task Management. When you think about all the things you need to do, you usually get overwhelmed. Make to do lists so you can breakdown each big project into smaller tasks. This makes them small actionable items that would make them easier to complete.
  4. Don’t Exhaust Yourself. Working several hours straight is counterproductive. You get frustrated and you won’t be as efficient as you like. Take small break every hour or every 2 hours.
  5. Take Distractions Out. There are so many distractions around us every day. This may be social media, you email inbox, or people coming in for some senseless chitchat. Make sure that you make yourself unavailable whenever working on something so you can get it done faster.
  6. Avoid TV As Much As Possible. Spending hours on a couch watching TV is time that could have been spent on so many other, more important things. Avoid the TV when you know you should be doing something else.
  7. Set Goals That Are Realistic. Setting goals that are impossible for you to reach is just pointless. Assess yourself and know which goals are attainable in a reasonable amount of time.
  8. Don’t get Sucked In To The Email Blackhole. Your inbox is probably full every single morning, and you get more and more mails by the hour. Do not keep checking your inbox. It is so easy to be sucked in and find that an hour or more has already passed.
  9. Reward Yourself. Little rewards for yourself when you achieve something can go a long way in terms of motivation. Just little things, like a meal at a fancy restaurant or a new piece of clothing, can steer you into doing more.
  10. Be Accountable For Your Actions. Remember that to do list? Check it regularly. Mark off those you finished so you can see what you have accomplished. Make sure you achieve the reachable goals that you have set for yourself.
  11. Make Your Plans. Before you go to sleep every night, make a list of what are the most important tasks you need to finish the next day. Keep this list somewhere visible so when you wake up, you know exactly what you need to do.
  12. Get Enough Rest. Make sure that you get as much rest as you can every day. Slugging through the next day because you’re too tired won’t make you productive.
