15 At-Home Child Hazards You Need to Pay Attention to

For your family to be healthy and happy, safety is one of the most important components. Unfortunately, when you have children, you need to pay special attention to potential hazards lurking in your home.

But there isn’t a reason to panic, there is an easy way to make sure your child is safe by doing everything you can to make your home hazard-proof.

1. Unstable Furniture

Large unstable furniture such as floor lamps, television stands, computer stands and bookshelves can be a hazard to your child, especially as children like to climb onto everything and lean on to furniture.

When children climb onto an unstable book shelf, they fall down much faster than it took them to climb. Bumps and bruises are inevitable in that case, and if there aren’t any more serious injuries you’re in luck. If a floor lamp is unstable and your child pulls the cable, it can easily fall over him/her and cause head injuries or injuries of other parts of the body, and if it hits the child in the head it can even be fatal.

Therefore, make sure you check the stability of all your furniture, place floor lamps behind other stronger and more stable pieces of furniture and anchor bookcases, TV and computer stands to the wall. It may take some work, but you’ll make your home safer for your child, and that should be your number one priority.
