Besides not being pretty and making you feel bad about yourself, excess fat on your body is not healthy either. Losing fat will not only make you more beautiful and confident, but healthier as well. Here are 8 foods that you can incorporate in a well balanced meal plan in order to get rid of that extra fat and become a better version of yourself.
1. Lean meats and fish
Eating lean meat and fish is an important part of every well balanced diet, and this is one of the foods that you don’t need to give up in order to lose weight. These foods are good for losing belly fat because they contain very little fat, and less saturated fats than other, not so lean, meats.
Lean meats are almost pure protein sources that our body needs for energy and proper muscle function. Besides being packed with protein, they are also low in fat and carbohydrates, which makes them the ultimate food for shedding belly and other body fat.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), lean meats are those that have less than 4.5 grams of saturated, and less than 10 grams of total fat in 100 grams of meat. Those meats include chicken breasts (skinless), turkey, lean parts of beef, etc. In order to make sure that they contain as little fat as possible, the best way to prepare these meats is to take the skin (for poultry) and all the visible fat off, and spice it according to your taste (but only the spices that don’t contain sugar or fat). When baking it use olive oil or no oil. If you are using a ceramic pan or Teflon, a drop of olive oil is enough and the meat will not stick to the pan. You can also cook, grill, or bake it in the oven.
Many fish are also very low in fat, and according to the New York Seafood Council, there are more than 25 types of fish in this group, including flounder, cod, perch, shrimp, tuna, etc. Besides being low-fat and good for weight loss, they also have omega-3 fatty acids that are beneficial for your heart.
