Redecorate Your Home with Minimal Expense

Women like to change things up a bit. So, when we can’t change our hair color or length, usually the next thing is our home. That can be a problem if you don’t have extra money to spend on renovating, but slightly redecorating could be the solution to your problems.

Of course, if you don’t want to add anything new, but still want to change something, there are tips and tricks for that too. Rearranging furniture or simply moving the chairs or sofas from one side of the room to the other is a great way to start things off. If you don’t have a walk-in closet, but keep your clothes in a dresser, you may want to change things up by simply rearranging your clothes. You can even stack the dressers on top of one another, and save up some space.

However, if your space is small and already crowded, here are some simple but helpful tips that don’t require spending a lot of money, and the end result will be a more modern home.

1. Cushions are the answer – If you don’t have the money to buy a new sofa, you can always go buy new cushions that will match the entire décor of the room and make your sofa a more comfortable place to sit and relax. Furthermore, if you already have cushions or you don’t want to buy new ones, with a little help of a thread and needle, you can make your own, personal cases. There are plenty of ideas for this kind of project. You can use an old T-shirt that has a print that you like, or an old pillowcase that you dyed in the color you want. Let your imagination do the work, and voila, you have yourself a freshened room décor.

2. Change the color of your walls – Get the paint you want and a paint brush, and begin redecorating. There is no need to call expensive repairmen to do a job you can do on your own. Call up a few friends, make some margaritas, give your friends each a brush, and enjoy painting the wall(s) while having fun. If, however, you don’t trust yourself to do the job alone, there are a lot of different wallpapers you can use to freshen up the look of your room. Of course, the cheapest option would be to buy stickers and wallpapers that are easy to apply, which is a great thing if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands, but think of all the fun you’re missing out on. Anyway, choose for yourself: a margarita painting party or a quick session of putting up wallpapers.

3. Bring back the shine to that old, stained coffee table – You don’t like your old, stained coffee table anymore, but you don’t seem to have enough money to buy a new one. Don’t worry, we’re here to save you. If you have some leftover paint, use it to paint the coffee table to perfectly match your new walls. All you will need is some sandpaper to take off one coat from the table, and paint away. Just keep in mind that the paint drips off the brush and that you will need to properly protect the floor from unwanted paint stains. Another thing you can do, if you know your way around a toolbox, is make a new table out of old wooden crates.

4. New paintings and photographs – If you already like the paintings on your walls and you don’t want to change them, just rearrange them. However, if you want to add something new, print out photos of your friends and family in black and white and put them on the walls. There are many ways on how you can do that. You can get frame-like stickers and then glue the pictures in the space provided for them, or you can buy new frames. If you’re going for a more vintage look, make sure to check thrift shops for frames. You can always personalize the frames by painting them in the desired color, or making your own from wood. When you have all that you need, take a few nails and a hammer and start arranging the pictures on the walls to your liking.
