3. Little Rock, Ark.
Little Rock is the capital and the largest city of the State of Arkansas. The city has a long history and many historical landmarks that make it interesting for the visitors. Even though its history is interesting, it’s present is quite gloomy.
The reports for this city show a similar crime rate to Birmingham’s, with 1,407 criminals per 100,000 citizens, which means that there are around 2800 criminals in Little Rock (considering the population of 197,400). This city has improved from 2010, but it is still one of the worst cities to live in considering the crime rate. The fact that prisons are overcrowded tells you everything.
4. Memphis, Tenn.
Memphis is often said to be the birthplace of the blues, soul and rock ‘n’ roll and for that reason many tourists are drawn to visit it. This city has more sunny days than Miami, a very exciting night life and a very high level of crime.
This city, according to the FBI’s report, has 1,565 criminals per 100,000 people as citizens. 12 people were murdered in the city in 2013, and there were 7,200 assaults. Besides the crime rate, Memphis also has one of the highest poverty rates in the US, which was 28% in 2013. Around 82% of the residents hold a high school diploma, but there are no data about bachelor degrees. This leads to believe that not many citizens are highly educated, which may have contributed to the poor situation it the city.
