Things to Do In NYC If You Only Have 24h

One day in a city such as New York isn’t nearly enough to see and do everything you would like, but if that is all you got better make the best of it. Since your tour and adventure will last only as shortly as a life of a butterfly, we have made a list of things to do and see that you simply cannot miss while in this city. You only have one day, so let’s make it count!

1. Central Park

Even though Central Park is full of tourists, it is still one of the most amazing places in New York, so seeing it and walking through it is a real experience. You can walk through it, or you can rent a bike for 20 dollars (for 2 hours). Going through this large park that extends on 843 acres of amazing greens, you can stop and gaze at the sculpture of Alice in Wonderland or enjoy the view from the Bow Bridge which seems to be the biggest attraction in the park.

2. Film Forum

If you like movies and cinemas, New York is the place for you. Here, you can watch the movies you usually only read about in the New York Times, because this is the only place they are played. The repertory is always well comprised and never seizes to be entertaining. You can see documentaries, art and indie movies, and many other genres of movies here, so there is something for everyone.

3. Empire State Building

This world-wide famous building is constantly visited and photographed by tourists. It is that famous because it is the tallest structure in the entire city. If you are planning to visit, be prepared to get into a crowd of people wanting the same thing, but don’t let that make you change your mind, because this building is really worth seeing. The best time to go there, if you want to avoid the crowd, is at 8.30 in the morning or at lunch time. As an adult, you will be asked to pay $22 for the entrance fee (it is a pretty penny, but it is worth it).

4. Eat some pizza

There are a lot of pizza places in New York, but among the best ones are John’s, Lombardi’s, Di Fara’s and Grimaldi’s, according to TIME magazine. If you are only staying for one day, we’re afraid you’re going to have to choose only one pizza place (unless the purpose of your visit is to eat pizza the entire day), and maybe the best choice would be Grimaldi’s because its closeness to the Brooklyn Bridge. The view from this restaurant is magnificent – you see Manhattan from a near distance in all its glory. But the place you will be at that moment is not so bad either, because the restaurant is in the most beautiful part of Brooklyn.

5. Go to the Brooklyn Bridge

After you’ve eaten your pizza, it would be a shame not to visit the famous (or some might say the infamous) Brooklyn Bridge when it is so close by. A walk across this amazing bridge is one of the best things to do when in New York, and it won’t cost you a dime. The bridge is beautiful at all times, but you will get the best experience if you go there at sunset, because then you will get the best view of Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty which may be more beautiful from here than from any other part of NY.

6. Walk through Times Square

One of the best attractions in New York, the globally famous Times Square, is something you absolutely must see and experience. You’ve probably never seen a place quite like it (except if you’ve already been to NYC before). Besides the vivid look of the square, you will enjoy a variety of restaurants, clubs, and if you have enough time you can see some of the Broadway plays and visit some of the museums located near Times Square. Since it is full of entertaining places, maybe you should leave Times Square as your last “stop”. Let yourself relax and enjoy shopping, quality food at some of the many restaurants, have drinks at a club you like and simply enjoy the views while you’re there.

This was our 24h New York City itinerary, but all of you out there that love and cherish this great city – what do you think, what mustn’t be missed when visiting New York?
